Trip Itinerary

Arrival day
Arrival at Girona city.
Stage 1: Banyoles ride Rocacorba Climb (103 Km 2020m+ short option 55km 695m+)
We meet at our office for a briefing and your bike fitting if bikes are rented. You start heading north to Banyoles, from where you have a challenging option, the ascent of Rocacorba (990m+), one of the most famous “cols” of the region. After the climb you descend again to the lake of Banyoles, where you can have a rest in front of the quiet water. After a break, you come back to Girona, through the countryside, over an undulated area.
Stage 2: Empordà ride Els Àngels (96 Km short option 60km 460m+)
The route takes you into the Gavarres mountains. Riders climb to 484m visiting the mountain top sanctuary of Els Angels (where Dalí got married) crossing the range down to the town of Bisbal d´Empordà. The ride returns to Girona by crossing the Gavarres once more this time climbing up to 400m over Santa Pallaia, and returning to the city via the villages of Cassà de la Selva and Quart, made famous by the US Postal Team, which was based in Girona. The ride is a 60km blast on some of the finest cycling roads in the world, containing two climbs as the road winds over the mountains back to the base in Girona.
Short option: you can cut the route in Madremanya direction Monells.
Stage 3: Coastal Ride Sant Grau (99 Km 1347m+ short option 52km 567m+)
You start heading south through a flat area, until Llagostera, where you start uphill to Sant Grau. From there you start one of the most gorgeous descents with an amazing sea view. You reach the coastal road, that runs more than 20 km along the coast above impressive cliffs. You arrive at Sant Feliu de Guixols where you have a stop-and-go. From there you start the return to Girona through the Romanyà pass and go back to Girona.
Short option: arriving at Llagostera you start the climb of Sant Grau. There you deviate from the long route and you go direction Cassà de la selva.
Stage 4: Les Guilleries ride Sant Hilari (92 Km 800m+ short option 66km 744m+)
This option provides riders with a chance to climb to over 1000m in altitude to the mountain town of Sant Hilari. The climb to the town is approx. 30km and is an excellent training climb with its slack gradients but long distance. Riders then have a thrilling 18km descent to the town of Santa Coloma. This is another famous training ride used by hundreds of local riders. The ride returns to Girona winding through the fantastic countryside of the Gironès area.

Excellent and highly recommended bike rental place in the heart of Girona. Close to the centre so probably close to anywhere you'd stay if you were staying centrally.Bike was lovely (BMC TeamMachine SLR01). Full di2, disc brakes, 12 speed, carbon rims, etc. Lovely and fast on the flat and rolling. Great immediate braking on the long or technical descents. Not bad at climbing either and very well priced compared to other bike rentals I've done.Staff were very friendly and helpful and communication when required was quick and effective. I'd arranged to pick up the bike on the day after arriving but managed to pick it up last thing the day before after contacting them. Pick up was quick and simple. Bike fit was easy on a rig in the shop. Di2 charging cable provided and I was ready within 20 minutes. Returning was equally quick and easy. Would definitely use again if I'm in the area. Highly recommended.

Simply excellent. Good quality bikes which required no maintenance. The GPX routes were accurate, challenging enough and fun. Our hotels were amazing with friendly staff and all luggage transports were timely. Great company to deal with :-).

We loved renting our bikes and taking a self guided tour through cycleTours Catalonia. The team was very kind and knowledgeable about the area. They took the time to walk us through all the routes. They were also super responsive when we called them for help. Additionally, the gravel bikes we rented were great, we were apprehensive to rent because we love our own bikes but we ended up being very happy with them. Would highly recommend!

I have hired a road bike from CycleTours Catalonia twice now and each time they have delivered. Efficient friendly service, great value for money and recommendations for local routes if you need them. This time I went for a BMC Team Machine SLR Two, which was super light and speedy and in great condition. The online booking engine is simple to use. See you next time!

I had a last minute change of plans so dropped by the shop the night before bike collection day. The staff were super friendly and very helpful, providing some route plans and asking if I wanted to take the bike early. Overall I had a great experience riding around Girono fantastic roads and beautiful scenery, I did get a couple flats which were due to an issue with the wheel rim but the bike overall was well maintained.Would definitely use this shop again next time I’m in town.

The service and bike hire were both amazing and flawless. I picked up the bike and was greeted by a friendly mechanic who made the adjustments to the bike fit I wanted and I was on my way to riding. Returning the bike was also pleasurable and easy. I would easily recommend Cycletours Catalonia to anyone in need of a rental or bike tour.

Fantastic bike rental company!I have hired bikes from lots of different companies in lots of different locations and have never received this level of service. Everyone I talked to was friendly and extremely helpful. They also were able to help me out even though I completely messed up my booking. The bike I rented was very well specced, in amazing condition and had no issues at all. And the price was great and included a cycle bag with items to repair any problems I may have had.I will 100% use them the next time I'm in Girona and would highly recommend them to anyone.

My husband and I did a 5 day self directed bike tour of Costa Brava. It was incredible. The gravel bikes were in great condition. I rented the ebike. It worked very well for me and Paul loved his BMC gravel. The hotel accommodations were first class and the breakfasts included were varied and delicious. We absolutely love the coffee wine and food in Costa Brava. Our tour took us on greenways, less travelled roads, coastal visas, farmers fields and walled villages. We absolutely loved everything. Manel and staff were exceptional and very responsive to our needs. Thank you for a lifetime experience we will alway remember !

They can’t do more to help! Great bike selection, and advice, including booking a taxi to our start point in Vic. Our late return, gone 6 when they close, was not a problem, even our filthy bikes were immediately washed and all for a great price.

We did the 7 day self-guided tour of Emporda on road bikes and it suited us perfectly. The bikes were new and in great shape. The route was very well chosen, little traffic, great variety and some fine passes. The hotels were of a very high standard, and the staff remarkably friendly. What more can I say!
